24 Sep 2020 I had psychosis and was put on abilify, although I presume it helped this I have suffered for ten years with anorexia. This is the worst drug ever because now the weight won't come off no i've stopped taking them and it's been three months. I am eating no more food and exercising like crazy. My battle begins yet again, the doctors have no realisation of the psychological impact these sort of drugs have on people having to take them that suffer with eating disorders. It's ruined my self esteem. Would not recommend if you have weight issues

21 Dec 2014 Abilify has been effective as a treatment for me. I take 5 mg./day and have been on it for roughly 5 weeks. I am using as an adjunct medication to Latuda, Wellbutrin, and Oxcarbazepine and it has stabilized this latest mood swing very nicely. I am calm and I have not gotten angry ( my worst symptom). Things roll of my back much better now. The drawbacks are it has increased my blood pressure and pulse and caused some additional weight gain. Overall, a very good medication and I would suggest it for anyone dealing with Bipolar Depression.

22 Mar 2014 My 12 year old son started Ability 5 weeks ago and we are so happy with the results. Before starting Ability, he was always short tempered and would become physically violent over minor things. As he is 6 foot tall and 200 pounds, I was constantly worried about the safety of his little sisters. He didn't sleep well, didn't bath, and we had to force him to leave the house. He has been home schooled because he didn't fit well at school and was being bullied. A couple weeks after starting Ability, we noticed that he was not yelling or hitting as much. He is sleeping better, bathing more and has been going out to spend time with friends again. He says that he feels calmer and that people are not annoying him all the time now. We are still trying to get his insurance company to cover his Ability, but given how well it is working, we will find a way to keep him on Ability.

18 Oct 2013 I loved this medicine despite it's scary side effects, mostly because I would wake up at 6:00 am bright-eyed and bushy-tailed. Before starting this medication, I spent all my time in bed, crying. I wasn't depressed after I started taking it, I became angry and violent instead. I didn't "get" that it was the drug doing this to me until my insurance didn't pay for my refill and I was forced to go off it cold turkey a few months ago. I got better, I am a kind person again, but withdrawing from Abilify was HELL! It breaks my heart knowing they put little kids on this HEAVY, HEAVY drug. Think twice.
