The generic name of this medication is meprobamate and brand name is acabamate.

The active ingredient of this medication is acamprosate calcium.

Acabamate is manufactured by Danbury Pharmaceutical.

It is mainly used in the short-term to treat symptoms of anxiety and nervousness. It acts on certain centers of the brain to help calm your nervous system.

Common Uses:

This medication is used in the short-term to treat symptoms of anxiety and nervousness. It acts on certain centers of the brain to help calm your nervous system.

Off Label Uses:

None noted currently.

Side Effects:
Drowsiness.
Dizziness.
Headache.
Excitement.
Nausea.
Vomiting and diarrhea.

Cautions / Warnings:

Not recommended for patients with the following conditions:
If allergic to it or to carisoprodol, mebutamate, tybamate or carbromal; or if there are any other allergies.
If there is kidney disease, liver disease, brain disorders (such as seizures, brain damage).
This medication is not recommended for use during the first 3 months of pregnancy.

Drug Interactions:
Alcohol.
Antihistamines (such as cetirizine, diphenhydramine).
Drugs for sleep or anxiety (such as alprazolam, diazepam, zolpidem).
Muscle relaxants and narcotic pain relievers (such as codeine).
