15 May 2014 I have had mental health problems since a child. Diagnosed: Bipolar/ Manic Depression, ADD, OCD, Anxiety. I am on Adderall IR, Celexa, Latuda, and Klonopin. I can say that I'm happy with my doctor and he understands that every person is different and everyone does not need a combination that a doctor thinks will work for everyone. Phyciatry is a very unprecedented part of the peoples minds and has to be very difficult to work with. In my opinion, Physiatrists have one of the most hardest and unpredictability diagnosis jobs out of any doctors. I give all my heart out to the good Physiatrists we have in our states. But back to my combination of meds. It has worked for me for the last 6 years and I don't want another doctor expieramenting on me with different cocktails of meds. But a lot of other physiatrist ask and wonder why someone would get a downer and a stimulant at the same time. They think if if someone is giving a downer like a Klonopin that is used for anxiety/seizures, etc... then why prescribe a stimulant like Adderall. Its all because they do not diagnose every person on an individual basis. They guess, "An Educated Guess," (Hypothesis), that the stimulant would cause anxiety or more unwanted side effects, and the downer would cancel out the effects of the stimulant. They frown upon that combination but for individuals such as myself, it evens all malfunction and behavior I have. Like I stated, everybody is different and needs to be diagnosed accordingly to the individual. And as far as the addiction part of adderall. There isn't any. I've been on it for 6 years and my Dr. has me go on drug holidays. That is go off the medication for weeks or months at a time. The only thing I noticed is u sleep for a few days then it takes a few more days to fully start functioning but my mind was scatter brained and thoughts went back to racing. So, me being on 4-20mg tabs of instant release aadderall, I've had no physical withdrawal symptoms. And this is a big note for doctors who aren't experienced with all different types of meds. "PEOPLE WHO MISUSE ANY MEDICATION AND END UP IN THE HOSPITAL OR END UP OVERDOSING IS THERE OWN FAULTS. NOT THE DOCTORS". AND YES, DOCTORS SHOULD BE AWHERE OF ADDICTS AND TRY OTHER ALTERNATIVE OPTIONS. But I'm also an addict, and use 16mg of Suboxone sublingual strips a day. Doesn't affect me with my mental health meds and for me, the Suboxone must do something with your endorphins to make you not want to abuse medication no more. I don't know but physiatrist need to listen to an individuals concerns and what works for them. They should be properly educated to read an addict and a addicts behavior, and also get the patients prior history. So all in all, there are many patients out there that are getting unproperly diagnosed and improperly medicated.
