The generic names of this medication are fluticasone propionate, salmeterol and brand name is Advair Diskus.

The active ingredients of this medication are fluticasone propionate and salmeterol xinafoate.

Advair is manufactured by GlaxoSmithKline Inc.

Mainly used to control asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) associated with chronic bronchitis.

Common Uses:

This medication is used to control asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) associated with chronic bronchitis.

Off Label Uses:

None noted currently.

Side Effects:
Bronchitis;
Cough;
Diarrhea;
Difficulty speaking;
Fungal infection of the mouth;
Gastrointestinal discomfort and pain;
Headaches;
Hoarseness;
Muscle pain;
Nausea;
Sinus problems;
Sore throat;
Upper respiratory infection or inflammation;
Vomiting.

Cautions / Warnings:

Never exhale into the diskus;
Do not use a "spacer" with Advair Diskus;
Do not try to take the diskus apart.

Drug Interactions:
Antidepressants;
Beta blockers(drugs such as atenolol and propranolol hydrochloride);
Ketoconazole;
Formoterol and salmeterol xinafoate;
Ritonavir;
Water pills(diuretics).
