Warnings
The generic names of this medication are fluticasone propionate, salmeterol and brand name is Advair Diskus.
The active ingredients of this medication are fluticasone propionate and salmeterol xinafoate.
Advair is manufactured by GlaxoSmithKline Inc.
Mainly used to control asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) associated with chronic bronchitis.
Common Uses:
This medication is used to control asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) associated with chronic bronchitis.
Off Label Uses:
None noted currently.
Side Effects:
Bronchitis;
Cough;
Diarrhea;
Difficulty speaking;
Fungal infection of the mouth;
Gastrointestinal discomfort and pain;
Headaches;
Hoarseness;
Muscle pain;
Nausea;
Sinus problems;
Sore throat;
Upper respiratory infection or inflammation;
Vomiting.
Cautions / Warnings:
Never exhale into the diskus;
Do not use a "spacer" with Advair Diskus;
Do not try to take the diskus apart.
Drug Interactions:
Antidepressants;
Beta blockers(drugs such as atenolol and propranolol hydrochloride);
Ketoconazole;
Formoterol and salmeterol xinafoate;
Ritonavir;
Water pills(diuretics).

I had spontaneous palpitations and I also had 2 panic attacks while on it, which I have never had before. As soon as I stopped the medication, no more palpitations. Advair has the black box label warning and has reportedly been responsible for 4000 of 5000 asthma related deaths.

After a severe bought of a cough and wheezing, my doctor prescribed me Advair due to my newly found Asthma. Since taking Advair, I have been able to breathe much better all the time, but especially during cold and allergy seasons.
