The generic name of this medication is ibuprofen and the various brand names under which ibuprofen is marketed and sold include; Advil, Genpril, IBU-200, Midol, Motrin, and Nuprin.

The active ingredient of this medication is ibuprofen. Inactive ingredients include acetic acid, artificial flavors, butylated hydroxytoluene, carboxymethylcellulose sodium, citric acid monohydrate, edetate disodium, FD&C blue no.1, FD&C red no. 40, glycerin, microcrystalline cellulose, polysorbate 80, propylene glycol, purified water, sodium benzoate, sorbitol solution, sucrose, and xanthan gum.

It is primarily used to reduce fever and treat pain and/or inflammation.

Common Uses:

This medication is used to reduce fever and treat pain and/or inflammation caused by various conditions like arthritis, back pain, headache, menstrual cramps, minor injuries, toothache etc.

Off Label Uses:

None noted currently.

Side Effects:
Black, bloody, or tarry stools;
Chest pain;
Dark urine;
Loss of appetite;
Low fever;
Nausea;
Problems with vision or balance;
Shortness of breath;
Slurred speech;
Stomach pain;
Swelling or rapid weight gain;
Weakness.

Cautions / Warnings:

Not recommended in people with the following conditions:
Asthma
Cardiovascular diseases;
Hepatic conditions like liver failure and cirrhosis;
Renal conditions like renal failure;
Stomach ulcers or bleeding;
Might cause severe allergic reactions that may include hives, facial swelling,
asthma or wheezing, and shock;
This drug contains an NSAID that could cause severe stomach bleeding.

Methotrexate;
Steroids.
