19 Apr 2012 I take amitripytine as a pain relief. It takes the edge off the pain but really makes no difference at all to be honest.

26 Sep 2011 It helps with sleep, but makes me have weird dreams so I don't know if I would recommend it.

06 Jan 2011 I was prescribed amitryptiline after a servere breakdown and agitated depression. It was due to stress at work, and my Doctor told me the drug would bring my neurotransmitters together, that the stress had knocked apart. It saved my life, as I was suicidal. I was living in a nightmareworld for 3 months, not eating, sleeping, and seeming to be in a paralal world. I would rather die, than go through that again. I had to fight like hell to live, I feel amitryptiline keeps me on the straight and narrow with a maintenance dose daily, but I would like to give it up, but feel I could not cope with the very serious side effects, and look on it as my crutch, keeping me sane.

22 Aug 2009 Taken 20mg for post traumatic head injury. At first great-headache gone but got very groggy in the morning, had real sugar cravings, heart rhythm problems and just not feeling quite on the earth. So have cut to 10mg for 3 days and stopped altogether today. Yeah I know you are not meant to stop but I think this drug is not that good for me,now the headaches are much better. Here's hoping anyway!!

16 Jun 2009 amitriptyline was added to my other medications because I was grinding my teeth at night and not getting rested sleep. This medication had to be increased after taking 50 mg/day for several years and is now back to working pretty well.
