The generic name of this medication is amoxicillin and some of the brand names are Amoxil, DisperMox, Polymox, and Trimox.

The active ingredient of this medication is amoxicillin and it is available in the form of capsules, pediatric suspension, sachets and injection.

This medication is used in the treatment of bacterial infections and conditions like infections of the middle ear, tonsillar infections, sore and other throat infections, laryngitis, bronchitis, pneumonia, urinary tract infections, skin infections, and gonorrhea.

It is manufactured by Cipla Limited.

Common Uses:

This medication is used for the treatment of bacterial infections and conditions like infections of the middle ear, tonsillar infections, sore and other throat infections, laryngitis, bronchitis, pneumonia, urinary tract infections, skin infections, and gonorrhea.

Off Label Uses:

The off label uses of this medication include treatment of Helicobacter pylori infection and ulcers of the small intestine.

Side Effects:
Diarrhea;
Nausea;
Vomiting.

Cautions / Warnings:

Not recommended in people:
Allergic reactions to this medication or any of its ingredients; or other penicillin antibiotics (eg ampicillin);
That have taken or are likely to take live oral typhoid vaccine;
With infectious mononucleosis.

It is also not recommended in pregnant women, those intending to become pregnant, and nursing mothers.

Drug Interactions:
Anticoagulants (eg warfarin);
Probenecid;
Chloramphenicol, macrolide antibiotics (eg erythromycin);
Methotrexate;
Live oral typhoid vaccine or hormonal birth control measures (eg birth control pills).

30 Jan 2012	I had pneumonia and I was is a lot of pain, but my doctor prescribed amoxicillin and I was able to leave the hospital in 2 days, which was sooner than expected. 08 Jan 2012	I was very ill with strep throat so it was hard to determine what side effects this medication caused. It seemed to hurt my stomach and felt like I would throw up.
