The generic name of this medication is hydrocortisone and brand names are Anucort-HC, Anusol-HC, Cort-Dome.

The active ingredient of this medication is hydrocortisone acetate.

This medication is used to treat hemorrhoids and itching/swelling in the rectum/anus.

Common Uses:

This medication is used to treat hemorrhoids and itching/swelling in the rectum/anus.

Off Label Uses:

The off label uses of this medication is that it may also be used with other medications to treat certain intestinal problems (ulcerative colitis, cryptitis).

Side Effects:
Burning
Itching
Skin/hair follicle irritation
Dryness and changes in skin color

Cautions / Warnings:

Not recommended in patients with the following conditions:
If allergic to this medication or to other corticosteroids (prednisone)
If there are rectal sores/infections, stomach/intestinal problems or diabetes
During pregnancy.

29 Aug 2011	I had only used this a few times, I was not comfortable using supositories. Very effective when I did use it. 27 Jan 2011	I have only used it once so far (just got it today), but I was able to finally poop, it was still painful, but not as bad.
