Warnings
The generic name of this medication is Amoxicillin/Clavulanate and Brand Name is Augmentin.
The active ingredients of this medication is Amoxicillin/Clavulanate.
Mainly used in Treating infections caused by certain bacteria.
Common Uses:
This medication is used in Treating infections caused by certain bacteria.
Off Label Uses:
None noted currently.
Side Effects:
Diarrhea;
Nausea;
Vomiting.
Cautions / Warnings:
Not recommended for following conditions:
Allergic reactions to this medication or any of its ingredients or any another penicillin antibiotic (eg, ampicillin);
History of liver disorders or yellowing of the eyes or skin caused by Augmentin;
Infectious mononucleosis (mono);
Who are taking a tetracycline antibiotic (eg, doxycycline);
It is also not recommended in pregnant women; women planning on becoming pregnant; and nursing mothers.
Drug Interactions:
Anticoagulants (eg, warfarin);
Probenecid;
Chloramphenicol, macrolide antibiotics (eg, erythromycin), sulfonamides (eg, sulfamethoxazole), or tetracycline antibiotics (eg, doxycycline);
Methotrexate;
Live oral typhoid vaccine or hormonal birth control (eg, birth control pills).

This is HORRIBLE and DEADLY drug. Please do not take this drug. I was prescribed this drug 3 times in the course of a year (2x for strep throat and 1 time for an infected cat bite). I wish I had known how poor the doctors were that I was seeing for prescribing this drug that many times when it wasn't even necessary. I ended up with a very severe stomach infection, called C Difficile because it killed off all my good bacteria. This is an awful drug and the drug companies and doctors do not have your best interests in mind.

Works well for infection. No side effects were experienced. The pills have an aftertaste though. It was nice that I didn't get a yeast infection from this antibiotic like I do with many other antiobiotics.
