The generic name of this medication is phenazopyridine and brand names are Azo-Gesic, Azo-Standard, Baridium, Phenazo, Prodium, Pyridiate, Pyridium, Re-Azo, Uricalm and Uristat.

The active ingredient of this medication is phenazopyridine.

Mainly used to treat pain, burning, increased urination and increased urge to urinate.

Common Uses:

This medication is used to treat pain, burning, increased urination and increased urge to urinate.

Off Label Uses:

None noted currently.

Side Effects:
Pale skin, fever, confusion or weakness.
Jaundice (yellowing of your skin or eyes).
Urinating less than usual or not at all.
Drowsiness, confusion, mood changes, increased thirst, loss of appetite, nausea and vomiting.
Swelling, weight gain, feeling short of breath.
Blue or purple coloring of skin.

Cautions / Warnings:

Not recommended in patients with the following conditions:
If allergic to phenazopyridine.
If there is kidney disease.
If there is liver disease.
If there is diabetes.
If there is a condition called G6PD (glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase) deficiency.
