Since the Middle Ages, this natural herb called Bay Leaf has been used to bring about normalization and regularity of menstrual cycles, for the treatment of snakebite and insect stings, to treat cold and provide relieve to minor cuts and bruises and also for curing urinary problems.

In some cultures and amongst practitioners of alternative medicine, Bay Leaf is used to aid digestion and cure digestive problems. The essential oils of bay leaf is believed to have antifungal and antibacterial attributes. Also is used in baths to aid relaxation and as a skin soother and an insect repellent.

Promotes menstruation;

Off Label Uses:

Recommended in diabetic diets.

Side Effects:
Asthma;
Skin irritation;
Consuming bay leaves without crushing and/or powdering can lead to bowel perforation.

Cautions / Warnings:

Not recommended in pregnant women and nursing mothers;
Not to be consumed in the essential oil form because of the hight risk of allergic reaction and asthma attack;
Entire bay leaves should not be consumed or ingested directly, can lead to choking since it is not easy to swallow.

Drug Interactions:
Alcohol extracts of bay leaf could interact with ACE inhibitors;
Bay leaf essential oil can lead to anticonvulsant effects;
Bay leaf essential oil can lead to sedation and motor impairment.
