The generic name of this medication is olmesartan and brand name is Benicar.

The active ingredient of this medication is olmesartan medoxomil.

This medication is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). It is sometimes prescribed with other blood pressure medications.

Common Uses:

This medication is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). It is sometimes prescribed with other blood pressure medications.

Off Label Uses:

None noted currently.

Side Effects:
Light headedness.
Painful or difficult urination.
Urinating less than usual or not at all.
Chest pain, fast heart rate.
Swelling in your hands or feet.
Slow heart rate, weak pulse, tingly feeling.

Cautions / Warnings:

Not recommended for patients with the following conditions:
If patient is allergic to olmesartan.
If there is kidney disease.
If there is liver disease.
If there is congestive heart failure.
During pregnancy and pre-pregnancy.

Drug Interactions:
Diuretic (water pill)
NSAIDs such as ibuprofen and naproxen for pain/fever reduction.

25 Apr 2014	Benicar has been wonderful in controlling my blood pressure. Works better than the many other drugs I have tried and either couldn't tolerate or they did a poor job of hypertension control, however, i dream wildly and vividly, meaning I act out my dreams, falling out of bed so much we have put the mattress on the floor. I have attacked my husband many times, always dreaming that he's a bad guy intending harm either as a criminal, Nazi, etc. and I'm defending self. Wild stuff. He wakes me often during the night when I'm talking, yelling, which stops me from turning violent. 31 May 2012	I take Benicar as part of the Marshall Protocol. It sets up the Benicar Blockade to protect organs as the antibiotic kills off the bacteria causinge TH1 diseases.
