Common Uses:

This medication is used to treat a hormone imbalance in which there is too much prolactin in the blood (also called hyperprolactinemia).

Off Label Uses:

None noted currently.

Side Effects:
Cough or trouble breathing; or
Feeling light-headed, fainting.
nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, constipation;
Headache;
Dizziness, drowsiness, nervousness.

Cautions / Warnings:

Not recommended for following conditions:
Who are allergic to cabergoline;
Who are allergic to any type of ergot medicine such as ergotamine (Ergomar, Cafergot), dihydroergotamine (D.H.E. 45, Migranal Nasal Spray), ergonovine (Ergotrate), or methylergonovine (Methergine);
Who have uncontrolled high blood pressure (hypertension);
Who have liver disease;
Who have a breathing disorder.

Drug Interactions:
Metoclopramide (Reglan);

An ACE inhibitor such as benazepril (Lotensin), captopril (Capoten), fosinopril (Monopril), enalapril (Vasotec), lisinopril (Prinivil, Zestril), moexipril (Univasc);

A calcium channel blocker such as amlodipine (Norvasc), diltiazem (Tiazac, Cartia, Cardizem), felodipine (Plendil);

A diuretic (water pill) such as amiloride (Midamor, Moduretic), bumetanide (Bumex), chlorthalidone (Hygroton, Thalitone).

About Cabergoline

The generic name of this medication is cabergoline and Brand Name is Dostinex. The active ingredients of this medication is cabergoline and Inactive ingredients are consist of leucine, USP, and lactose. This medication is used to treat a hormone imbalance in which there is too much prolactin in the blood (also called hyperprolactinemia).

About Cabergoline

Cabergoline (brand names Dostinex and Cabaser), a lysergic acid amide derivative, is a potent dopamine receptor agonist on D2 receptors. It also acts on dopamine receptors in lactophilic hypothalamus cells to suppress prolactin production in the pituitary gland. It is frequently used as a second-line agent in the management of prolactinomas when bromocriptine is ineffective.
