16 Oct 2020 Given Candesartan 8mg for raised BP, 3 chest infections, 3 antibiotics & endless sleepless nights later I was still coughing, producing large amounts of mucus. Coughed through lockdown, afraid to go for a walk incase people thought I had Covid, afraid if I got Covid the effect would be fatal because my chest and airways were compromised. Not a patient who questions what the doctors give was amazed to read the leaflet & find my symptoms were related to the medication and even more amazed when I had no cough within 48 hours of stopping this medication. Looking for effective control of my blood pressure I saw a new doctor & after explaining my situation he told me he would prescribe a different tablet with no side effects called Aticand, dismayed to find in the pharmacy this was Candsartan by another name. Do these companies give enough weight to the health implications of the side effects for some patients when recommending this medication to prescribing doctors.

20 May 2017 So far, probably the best treatment I have had for lowering my high blood pressure with fewer than normal side effects.

02 Mar 2016 Have had very bad chest/ sinus colds every two months for the past two years. Been on the drug for five years. Now see that cold and respiratory infection side effects are common with this drug especially after several years of use. Doctor and pharmacist both have recommended I stop using it.

18 Dec 2014 The 32 mg once daily pill has worked very well for me; however, since the drug assistance program for AstraZeneca is no longer covering Atacand, I find myself unable to afford even the generic version, candesartan cilexetil, and now I must find an alternative.

27 Mar 2013 The weather is very cold. But I am getting "Cold flushes" specially in bed. even though I have a lot more bed clothes than usual. This has only happened lately. My hands tend to be colder than normal. But I am trying the 2+5 diet, because it is supposed to correct hypertension naturally. I am not overweight.
