06 Oct 2011 I was diagnosed with myoclonus by a neurologist a year ago, although I had suffered from it a couple of years before hand. An MRI scan and EEG failed to show any abnormalities, however I was diagnosed with epilepsy and perscribed the anti- epileptic drug Levetiractam (Keppra). The Keppra reduced the intensity of my myoclonus but not the fequency so I have been perscribed Clonazepam. The reason behind my myoclonus is not yet completely clear and I am due a Spinal MRI, but the Clonazepam has almost completely cured the Myoclonus and therefore the stress that the frenquent muscle jerking and spasms caused me. The only drawbacks so far have been the sedative effects and the forgetfulness, which I feel able to cope with.
