24 Jan 2012 I am taking it in the form of a cough syrup. I've had a horrible cough for 4 months that just won't go away! It works!! (But...) It has a stimulating effect on me... makes me want to get up and get things done! I can see how this feeling would be addicting!! Don't worry- I only take it once in a while. The bad side- it creates a tingling sensation all over, and makes me itch!!

23 Oct 2011 codeine has been prescribed for me @ a rate 30.mig and endorsed by my heart health clinic, however I now buy solpadeine containing 12.8mig. This has no real side affects on me but in fact helps me to relax. I am 63 in fairly good health but recently underwent a double hernia op for which I take codeine for post op pains. I have had 2 heart attacks with stent inserts. Lucky am I.
