Warnings
The generic name of this medication is norethindrone/ethinyl estradiol and the brand name is Femcon Fe. It is manufactured by Warner Chilcott Company Inc.
The active ingredients of this medication are ethinyl estradiol and norethindrone. The inactive ingredients are dibasic calcium phosphate, lactose, magnesium stearate, maltodextrin, povidone, sodium starch glycolate, spearmint flavor and sucralose.
It is primarily used in the prevention of pregnancy.
Common Uses:
This medication is used in the prevention of pregnancy.
Off Label Uses:
Treatment of:
Acne;
Heavy menstrual bleeding;
Painful menstrual periods;
Irregular menstrual periods;
Premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD);
Various other problems like polycystic ovary disease (PCOS).
Side Effects:
Breast tenderness or enlargement;
Changes in appetite;
Changes in weight;
Dizziness;
Hair loss;
Headache;
Nausea;
Stomach cramps or bloating;
Unusual spotting or bleeding;
Vomiting.
Cautions / Warnings:
Not recommended in people that have:
Allergic reactions to this medication or any of its ingredients;
Chest pain caused by angina;
Liver disease; liver tumors or cancer.
Not recommended in pregnant women or women planning on becoming pregnant.
Drug Interactions:
Atorvastatin or troleandomycin;
Acitretin;
Aprepitant;
Azole antifungals (eg, itraconazole, ketoconazole);
Beta-blockers (eg, propranolol);
Clofibric acid;
Lamotrigine;
Morphine;
Penicillamine or thyroid hormones (eg, levothyroxine).

In general I loved it! The medication is small and tastes like mints so it can be taken easily anwhere with out a drink! It was a little on the expensive side but I loved it!

This birth control has been the best one for me I had no side effects, I did spot for the first month but it was nothing like compared to the nuva ring. Femcon is great I love it also has brought back my sex drive again which nuva ring also got rid of for me. Definitely would recommend it.

I just had my fourth child via c-section, and I am scheduled for a tubal ligation on March 1st, but until then I am taking Femcon as a temporary birth control method and I have went through hell since I started to take it. I never suffer with migraine headaches and they have been terrible since I began this pill. Also, I have had the worst case of breakthrough bleeding that anyone could possibly have. I would definitely NOT reccommend this pill to anyone at all. I have been nervously worried about my health in this past month.

ever since stopping this pill i have experienced terrible anxiety which has led to insomnia. when i first started taking them i had insomnia. they have screwed me up so bad. i landed in the hospital because my anxiety was so bad. my heart rate was 160 bpm
