About Hydrofluoric Acid
Fluoricum acidum, also known as hydrofluoric acid, is used in large quantities in industry to clean metals and for polishing, frosting, and etching glass. Hydrofluoric acid contains fluorine, which is stored in teeth and bones. A deficiency of fluorine can lead to tooth decay. Fluoride, a compound of fluorine, is often added to the water supply to prevent tooth decay. Conditions that affect fibrous tissues, such as veins and bones, are treated with Fluor. ac. These include varicose veins, pain in the coccyx, and more serious conditions such as bone tumors. The remedy is also used for tooth decay. Source Prepared chemically by distilling calcium fluoride (the calcium salt of fluorine) with sulfuric acid to produce hydrogen fluoride gas, which is then dissolved in water to give hydrofluoric acid.
