Requested change of medication when I was accepted to graduate school. Had taken Topamax for more than a year since seizures began (primarily focal, occasionally progressing to generalized grand mal), with Ativan to stop generalized seizures. The combination worked fairly well, with occasional breakthrough seizures, but I couldn't see myself able to handle school (intellectually) with the mental side effects of Topamax. Within two weeks of the Vimpat, those side effects were gone, and I feel I am ready for school. The only thing that remains is that I do not know how/if Vimpat will prevent generalized seizures, if I have any, since it is not indicated for anything other than simply partial.
