Warnings
The generic name of this medication is escitalopram and brand name is Lexapro.
The active ingredients of this medication are Lexapro, escitalopram.
Mainly used in treating depression or generalized anxiety disorder.
Common Uses:
This medication is used for the treatment of depression or generalized anxiety disorder.
Off Label Uses:
None noted currently.
Side Effects:
Constipation
Decreased sexual desire or ability
Diarrhea
Dizziness
Drowsiness
Dry mouth
Headache
Increased sweating
Loss of appetite
Nausea
Stomach upset
Tiredness
Trouble sleeping
Cautions / Warnings:
Not advisable in patients allergic to any ingredient in Lexapro.
Not advisable in patients taking citalopram.
Not advisable during pregnancy, pre-pregnancy, or in nursing mothers.
Drug Interactions:
Fenfluramine derivatives.
Anticoagulants (eg warfarin)
Diuretics (eg furosemide, hydrochlorothiazide)
Tramadol
Carbamazepine or cyproheptadine
Clozapine, pimozide, risperidone, or tricyclic antidepressants (eg amitriptyline).

before I started to take Lexapro, I was skeptical about it. I didn't think it would work and I was worried to be taking it. Then I started to take it and it took some time to work but it has really helped me. I only take it for anxiety not depression, however it has made me be more positive on things and helped me lift up my spirits when in a bad mood. There were tons of side effects for me. but the one that really got to me was insomnia and difficulty orgasming. These side effects will wear off the more you take it. but if you're really having by ones or things are getting worse for you, I suggest you talk with your doctor. Other than that I 100% recommend taking this drug to help your anxiety or depression. You WILL thank me later!

Before use I was very stressed out, irritable,and very easily angered.Since taking it I enjoy conversations that I usually would not tolerate and just walk away or say something in defence of my negative impressions. IM enloying the more settled life style.

For me Lexapro was of great help. It reduced my major depression and obsessions significantly. Lexapro is much better than Paroxetine, Duloxetine in terms of sideffects (both of which have so much sideffects atleast for me). Paxil and duloxetine have many bad reports from users. Best to start with Lexapro, Sertraline Or Fluxetine. These have been shown to be most safer for all in general
