Warnings
The generic name of this medication is Lisinopril and brand names are Prinivil and Zestril.
The active ingredients of this medication are hydrochlorothiazide and lisinopril.
This drug is manufactured by AstraZeneca.
It is mainly used in treating high blood pressure, alone or in combination with other medicines.
Common Uses:
This medication is used for the treatment of high blood pressure, singularly or in combination with other medicines.
Off Label Uses:
None noted currently.
Side Effects:
Cough
Diarrhea
Dizziness
Headache
Tiredness
Cautions / Warnings:
Not advisable in patients allergic to any ingredient in Lisinopril.
Not advisable in during pregnancy, pre-pregnancy or in nursing mothers.
Not advisable in patients with a history of angioedema, swelling of the hands, face, lips, eyes, throat or tongue.
Drug Interactions:
Diuretics(eg furosemide, hydrochlorothiazide)
Aldosterone blockers (eg eplerenone)
Insulin, sulfonylureas (eg glipizide)
Gold-containing medicines (eg auranofin)
Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs or NSAIDs (eg ibuprofen, indomethacin, celecoxib)
Lithium or thiopurines (eg azathioprine)

About Lisinopril
Lisinopril (lye-SIN-o-pril) is a drug of the angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor class that is primarily used in treatment of hypertension, congestive heart failure, heart attacks and also in preventing renal and retinal complications of diabetes.
Historically, lisinopril was the third ACE inhibitor, after captopril and enalapril, and was introduced into therapy in the early 1990s. Lisinopril has a number of properties that distinguish it from other ACE inhibitors: it is hydrophilic, has long half life and tissue penetration and is not metabolized by the liver.
