The generic name of this medication is acetaminophen and hydrocodone and the brand names are Anexsia, Dolorex Forte, Hycet, Liquicet, Lorcet, Lortab, Maxidone, Norco, Polygesic, Stagesic, Vicodin, Xodol, Zamicet, Zydone.

The active ingredients of this medication are Acetaminophen 500 mg and Hydrocodone 7.5 mg. Inactive ingredients contained in the Lortab brand, Claritin Reditabs, include citric acid, gelatin, mannitol, and mint flavor.

It is primarily used to provide relief from moderate-to-severe pain.

Common Uses:

This medication is used to provide relief from moderate-to-severe pain.

Off Label Uses:

None noted currently.

Side Effects:
Confusion; fear; unusual thoughts or behavior;
Feeling light-headed, fainting;
Nausea; stomach pain; loss of appetite; itching; dark urine; clay-colored stools; jaundice;
Problems with urination;
Seizure;
Shallow breathing;
Slow heartbeat.

Cautions / Warnings:

Not recommended in people with:
A history of drug or alcohol addiction;
A history of head injury or brain tumor;
Allergic reactions to acetaminophen (Tylenol) or hydrocodone;
Asthma;
COPD;
Liver or kidney disease;
Low blood pressure;
Mental illness;
Sleep apnea, or other breathing disorders;
Underactive thyroid.

Drug Interactions:
Antidepressant such as amitriptyline (Elavil, Etrafon);
Clomipramine (Anafranil);
Imipramine (Janimine, Tofranil);
Isocarboxazid (Marplan);
Phenelzine (Nardil);
Rasagiline (Azilect);
Selegiline (Eldepryl Emsam) or tranylcypromine (Parnate);
Atropine (Donnatal);
Benztropine (Cogentin);
Dimenhydrinate (Dramamine);
A bronchodilator such as ipratropium (Atrovent) or tiotropium (Spiriva);
Dicyclomine (Bentyl), hyoscyamine (Anaspaz, Cystospaz, Levsin, and others), or propantheline (Pro-Banthine).
