Maxalt Comments

Maxalt has been great, although I agree with previous comments that it needs to be taken early in order to be effective. This of course is not always possible, and it can be frustrating when you finally have access to your medication but know it won't work (or as effectively as you would like). No side effects for me, but usually once I take medictation I try to lie down for an hour anyways, so I wouldn't know about any dizziness - I usually set an alarm and try to fall asleep to get through the worst.

I began taking Maxalt a couple years ago for my migraines but have used them less now that I am taking Topamax. I also found that after the years Maxalt did not work as effectively on me. I need to take maxalt at the first sign of a migraine, if I wait too long then the medication might not be helpful at all. It also had some side effects such as nausea and dizziness. Not the kind that comes with a migraine, I always describe it as feeling "funny". It hits you about 10 minutes after taking a maxalt and subsides shortly after. But other than that not a bad medication when you are facing a migraine that could last for days. Just take this medication at the first sign of a migraine!!

Maxalt works great if you take it right when you start feeling a migraine coming! It does make me sleepy and have to urinate a lot but I'd rather that then the migraine. However, since I've been put on Topamax, I'm not sure the Maxalt works right anymore. I've only had to take the Maxalt once since my doctor allowed me to have both again, so it may have just been a rogue migraine. Hopefully with the next one it will work.
