Common Uses:
This medication is used to prevent blood clots after a recent heart attack or stroke, and in people with certain disorders of the heart or blood vessels.
Off Label Uses:
None noted currently.
Side Effects:
Decreases in certain cells involved with the immune system;
Serious skin or allergic reactions;
Decreases in platelets;
Stomach bleeding or ulcers;
Constipation;
Urinary tract infection (UTI);
Fatigue;
High blood pressure (hypertension);
Joint pain;
Depression;
Anemia;
Difficulty breathing;
Thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura.
Cautions / Warnings:
Not advisable in people who are allergic to clopidogrel;
Not advisable in people who have any active bleeding such as a stomach ulcer or bleeding in the brain;
Not advisable in people who have a bleeding or blood clotting disorder, such as hemophilia;
Not advisable in people who have a history of stroke, including TIA ("mini-stroke");
Not advisable in people who have liver disease or kidney disease.
Drug Interactions:
Phenytoin (Dilantin);
Tamoxifen (Nolvadex);
Tolbutamide (Orinase);
Torsemide (Demadex);
Fluvastatin (Lescol);
A blood thinner such as warfarin (Coumadin), heparin, dalteparin (Fragmin), enoxaparin (Lovenox), or tinzaparin (Innohep);
Other medication used to prevent blood clots, such as alteplase (Activase), Dipyridamole (Persantine), ticlopidine (Ticlid), and urokinase (Abbokinase).

My Plavix experience overall has been worthwhile over the past couple of months. However, I think I am going to stick to the aspirin and continue living a healthy lifestyle.

This is one of the most important medication that I am taking, It does alot of good for my heart and I dont know what I would do without it. It has saved my heart many times and hopefully it protects my heart from any kinds of future problems. This medication is the most prefered by heart/cardiologists and their are rally no substitues. By court order they wouldnt let any substitutes, this is one of the only drugs out on the market that prevents heart problems and thier is no generic

I get bruises easier than I used to, and I also have experienced more bleeding. I am a mechanic and outdoors a lot doing heavy labor, and am prone to injury, so the bleeding is an issue. Other than that, it's great.
