10 Nov 2013 Saphris is helping me tremendously but I wake up every morning with severe pain in the joint area of my hip. I am hoping this goes away with use but if not I will have to stop taking this. I can barely walk in the mornings and can feel it throughout the day. However my mood and overall outlook on life is 1,000 times better. Which is why I hope that the joint pain does decrease because I've never been this happy and 'normal' in my life

03 Aug 2012 The first month I took saphris I had problems with waking up in the mornings. I was sluggish. My taste buds changed due to the numbness of the medication in my mouth. I had been on Geodon for years. The problem I had with it was I was numbed by my feelings. Rage seemed to be the only emotion that appeared to others that I was expressing. I could not cry. If I was upset (feeling hurt) like sadness, it would come out as panic and rage. My doctor switched me to Saphris and the first month I took it I felt calmer and more emotional. I could cry. The rage moods stopped. It also aleviated the anxiety so that I don't have to take as much klonipin. I have not had a panic attack and have been off the Saphris for 5 months now I stopped taking it because it would knock me out and I could not be awakened. I would have unusual dreams, restless leg syndrome and headaches. The second month I took it I began to feel unmotivative and tired. I gained weight in my upper abdominal area which worried me about onset diabetes. I cut back on the medication to see if it would help and it didn't. I was having very hard times waking up. I began feeling emotional and having self asteem problems. The headaches and sleepiness made me taper off the drug. At first I had problems waking up often at night. Emotionally I began feeling stable. Physically I have had problems with severe joint pain in my jaw, hips, and knees. I am going for a physical with my family treating doctor to check my blood sugar. I feel like my blood sugar might be high. I have gained weight in my upper abdominal area, I have reflux problems, I feel dehydrated all the time. I urinated more frequently and I have no energy at all. My joints flare up with pain. I tried walking (exercise) 3 miles a day to lose the weight. Within a week my right hip hurt so bad I could hardly walk. I ended up with blisters under my second toes and blood biisters under my right big toe nail and second toe. I lost my big toe nail. I have also had allergies where my sinus area on my face itched and the skin would be dry and inflammed and my eyes would itch so bad that I would have to take an antihistimine to get relief. I know with Geodon I felt more energy and self confidence, but I also had this air about myself that I was entiltled, numb about people around me. With the Saphris it took me to the opposite scale, tired and too emotional. Right now I feel very tired all the time. I am going to my treating physician because I am at menapause and have blood sugar problems. My mood has been one of concern, but I am not depressed. I think I need to have a physical to see if I am suffering from other possible reasons. I know one thing though all of the mood sabilizing drugs that I have taken in the last 7 years have all possible side effects of onset diabetes.
