15 Feb 2017 Been taking this since 1995. Taste has been natural and effects were remarkable with only one tbsp per day 2 months prior to study time. All the way to 2005 the product remained consistent. Since 2013/14, it became sweeter, around 2015 the taste itself changed to very noticeable preservatives. In 2016 the syrup is even hard to put in the mouth and smells nothing like it used to. Smells more like they sprayed it with pesticides and chemicals than any remotely Shankhapushpi or Brahmi tasting. I believe it is a real shame, but for health hazard, this product ought to be tested outside India for unsafe chemicals where no one can bribe their way for approvals. Baidyanath Shankhapushpi Syrup - helped me a lot for 10 years, not sure if this corruption is from larger global pharmaceuticals who have patented everything to make new drugs that claim the same but waaay more expensive and made in USA/UK/France/Germany, just like they take active constituents in Ayurveda that are known to work, and patent the hell out of them so no ayurveda company can flourish and file lawsuits to shut Indian companies down, or bribe/ corrupt them from the inside. Shame - especially when Indians used them for thousands of years, now privileged and whats available to the mass has been sabotaged.
