Conley was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease as a teenager, and hid it for years.

Chris Conley
Chris Conley (1980—), lead singer for the band Saves The Day. Conley was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease as a teenager, and hid it for years. He acknowledges that many people have it much worse, suffering uncontrollable symptoms or hospitalizations, but finally came to terms with it and now actively tries to bring awareness to the disease.
"There's nothing you can do about it, so I'll try and find it funny. And it is funny. Well, it's funny and not funny. You have to take it with a grain of salt, because if I really think about it, it's like, "Oh god, my body can't really digest things." He is very cautious about the notoriously bad food found on the road. "I always work on my diet to get through it... My body's really sensitive."
Crohn's has obviously influenced many
of his lyrics—for instance, the song See You on the album Stay What You Are. "My gut is burning / Won't you find me some water? / Hey, just forget it can you bring me gasoline/ and collect a couple forks, hold them three feet apart / and wait for lightning to strike / to burn me up? / 'Cause I don't think that I have got the stomach to / stomach calling you today…"
When Saves the Day was getting ready to tour with Weezer, Conley had to take steroids, which, he said, threw off his equilibrium and helped put him into a low emotional state. He ended up writing the song Where Are You. "The overall theme is about taking everything in, the depression, confusion and anxiety, but also the incredible highs."

New research has found that people with darker skin colors may have a higher chance of becoming addicted to nicotine. Melanin, the pigment that determine skin color, binds tightly to nicotine - this usually happens in the melanin-containing organs. However in darker skin tones, the melanin binds more widely throughout the body, creating a higher dependence.
