The generic name of this medication is levothyroxine and brand names are Levoxyl and Synthroid.
The active ingredient of Synthroid is levothyroxine sodium thyroid hormone.
Mainly used in treating low thyroid hormone levels and certain types of goiters.

25 Jun 2015 ive been on synthroid for the past 10 years and the doctor and my levels were elevated so the doctor changed it to 100mg and ive been on it for 4 weeks and had my levels check yesterday and my levels checked and they are still elevated so she changed it to 150mg and I am just wandering if it is to much of an increase on the medicine in that short amount of time.

29 Jul 2014 When I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's it was caught very early in blood work and I had no symptoms. I have been taking Synthroid over 25 years and never had any side effects. The dosage had to be adjusted a few times and I still have blood tests annually but all is good.
