The generic name of this medication is Simvastatin and brand name is Zocor.

The active ingredient of this medication is simvastatin.

Zocor is manufactured by Merck.

Mainly used in lowering high cholesterol and triglycerides in certain patients.

Common Uses:

This medication is used in lowering high cholesterol and triglycerides in certain patients.

Off Label Uses:

None noted currently.

Side Effects:
Constipation
Allergic reactions
Yellowing of skin or eyes
Swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue
Chest pain
Dark urine

Cautions / Warnings:

Not advisable in patients that are allergic to any ingredient in Zocor.
Not advisable in patients with liver problems or unexplained abnormal liver function tests.
Not advisable during pregnancy and in nursing mothers.
Not advisable in patients taking a macrolide antibiotic.

Drug Interactions:
Anticoagulants (warfarin)
Amiodarone
Bosentan
Certain azole antifungals (itraconazole, ketoconazole)
Carbamazepine
Macrolide immunosuppressants (tacrolimus)
