The generic name of this medication is betamethasone valerate and brand names are Betaderm and Beta-Val.

The active ingredient of this medication is betamethasone valerate.

Used in the treatment of various skin conditions like eczema, dermatitis, allergies, and rashes; helps decrease swelling,itching; also reduces redness that is associated with these conditions.

Common Uses:

Used in the treatment of various skin conditions like eczema, dermatitis, allergies, and rashes; helps decrease swelling and itching; also reduces redness that is associated with these conditions.

Off Label Uses:

None noted currently.

Side Effects:
Stinging
Burning
Irritation
Dryness or redness at the application site

Cautions / Warnings:

Not recommended in patients with the following conditions:
If there are allergic reactions to this medication or any of its ingredients.
If there are allergies to other corticosteroids like hydrocortisone or prednisone.
Poor blood circulation.
Diabetes.
Immune system disorders.
Also not recommended during pregnancy, pre-pregnancy and in nursing mothers.

Drug Interactions:
Corticosteroids taken by mouth (e.g. prednisone).
Drugs that affect the immune system (e.g. cyclosporine).

I find it amazing for itching, It sometimes seems like a miracle. My itching was really bad, my whole body had this problem but back of my head and my genatel area suffered the most. Since I started using this Betaderm, my itching has reduced. I don't use it regular, my doctor told me to use it when I need it. so when ever itching gets worse I use Betaderm and for a week or two I feel fine. but the problem is that it is not a permanent sloution. it has not completely sloved the problem. I wish there was a permanent sloution.
