I started Loestrin 24 in May of 2010. In July I started having lower abdominal pain followed by upper right abdominal pain. After doing some research I found others had experienced gallbladder spasms. My doctor indicated that I was experiencing gallbladder spasms. I am very healthy and ended up having my appendix removed with no indication of infection b/c of the pain. Since discontinuing my medication three days ago, the symptoms are still there but have improved immensely.

Unfortunately, I have had a real problem with hormonal birth control. I'm currently taking Microgestin, and while I'm kind of miserable on it, it's not as bad as what I experienced with Ortho. My only real complaint is that I have developed contact lens intolerance, and get red, gritty, painful eyes every time I wear my lenses for more than one day at a time. So far, I am extremely satisfied with my experience using Ortho Tri-Cyclen. The pills are small and discreet, so I can take them without my religious grandparents even knowing that I am.
