I took Atenolol for years to treat cogenital chronic tachycardia (basically, my heart beats too fast). When I got pregnant, I was switched to Labetalol. Virtually no side-effects, which was a definate improvement over Atenolol. I have been taking it for 7 years now, and am quite pleased with it.

Phenergan with codeine was prescribed to me when I had an upper respiratory infection (a cold). I had a very bad cough and bad congestion. I only took it at night because it had a significant drowsiness effect on me. I had to take more than the recommended amount to notice an effect on my cough- and I didn't feel like it was much more effective than over the counter products- except for putting me to sleep. I fell on my head and broke my nose and busted my gums and lips. I was in extreme pain and could not sleep before I took Vicodin. After taking the Vicodin I was virtually painless and finally got some sleep.

I only took this after my wisdom teeth extraction. It was really great for the pain and seemed to even help the swelling go down in my face. The main downside was that it made me intensely sleepy. I basically slept those days away and didn't eat much. Not too much pain though so I was satisfied and came out of the surgery just fine.
