I have been taking Effexor XR in combination with Lexapro for 5 years. Recently deciding to fast and cleanse I stopped taking both meds. Please do not stop abrubtly as I did. Follow the advice of your physician and wean off the meds. I experienced extreme withdrawls including sleeplessness, flash headaches, nausea, extreme sadness and suicidal thoughts. I was prescribed dexamethasone for severe inflammation in my tonsils when I had mononucleosis. I was unable to swallow and had difficulty breathing due to my enlarged tonsils, but the dexamethosone improved the swelling significantly very quickly. It made me very hungry, but I had also lost a lot of weight from my illness, so this side effect was not bad for me. When you are in intense pain-as I was you would do anything- If they had said they could cut my arm off I would have said yes please.This drug DID work for me- I was taking 600MG a day!! Didnt realise what a massive dose this was- It was brilliant for pain control but they dont tell you about withdrawral symptoms. I've been on Klonopin since the end of April. My doctors figured out the problem I was having wasnt anxiety so they are taking me off the Klonopin. I am having hot flashes, very irritable, and am having mild anxiety. It works for anxiety but it makes me really tired. Its hard to stay awake all day without taking a nap.
