I had taken Advil on occasion in the past and was taking it this time to reduce inflammation in my badly sprained ankle. I had a reaction to it. I do not wake up well in the morning and I get tired in the afternoon. Provigil keeps me alert in the afternoon and helps me to focus better when I have tasks to accomplish.

Even at the highest recommended dose, it doesn't work a full 24 hours. It does cause extreme drowsiness about 30 minutes to an hour after taking, so I take mine at bedtime. It is also quite expensive if you don't have insurance.
