I took Atenolol for years to treat cogenital chronic tachycardia (basically, my heart beats too fast). When I got pregnant, I was switched to Labetalol. Virtually no side-effects, which was a definate improvement over Atenolol. I have been taking it for 7 years now, and am quite pleased with it.

I would have thought 3 months is a long enough trial, I don't think therefore that this one is going to work for you... Have you tried anything else? If this is the next in a long list of "things to try" then can I suggest that you go back to your GP and ask for a dermatology referral. There is a drug called Roaccutane ( you may have heard of it) Yes, its strong and Yes, it does have side effects, but it is effective against acne when all else has failed. I've been on Dilantin for about 15 years now. I don't like the side effects at all, especially the memory problems, since they seem to get worse. Sometimes I forget a word in the middle of my sentence, I then getflustered and forget my entire thought. I'm also constantly tired and even though I am only 44 years old, I sometimes feel like my 81 year old mother. Was originally disagnosed with Lupus then it changed to some Inflamatory disorder. After taking 2 - 1000mg. of Carlsons Omega 3 and 2 Zyflamend. I'm finally painless. Much of my inflamation is in the bottom of my feet. I ran out for a couple of months and the pain came right back. I'm sold on this. NEEDS Vitamin Co. recommended this. Thank God!

this stuff is poison. i'm a 35-year-old who was perfectly healthy aside from smoking until chantix. now i feel like i'm 90 years old with one foot in my death bed. my skin doesn't even feel like my own skin and the fevers and rash just won't stop. sure, it will help you quit smoking, but it will ruin everything else in your life that means anything to you, most importantly your health (isn't that why you wanted to quit smoking to begin with?).

I experienced moderate nausea the first week. That stopped, but I then developed severe, long lasting headaches. Pain relievers do not help. They just have to go away on their own.
