I find that my appetite is HUGE if I am off by just an hour of taking my meds. My weight has increase 20 pounds on this med. I get horrible night sweats and insomnia. I"m lucky to be able to sleep more than 4 hours at a stretch. I haven't changed meds because I've moved and haven't found a new doc.

Toprol is very effective and keeps my heart rate low, which is what I need it to do. I just wish there was a way to take this medication and not be tired all the time. I assume it is such a problem because of the high dosage I am on, but I still would love to have more energy regardless.

Shortly after starting a short course of this medication I starting having irregular (skipped) heartbeats upon light exertion. It took me two weeks to put two and two together and I have now stopped the medication. I have had irregular heartbeats in the past but they had not bothered me for several years. Also, I have experienced difficulty sleeping including trouble getting to sleep and/or mid night wakefulness. Recently I have experienced diarrhea. This drug does not seem to be worth us... I had really bad hives last month and was prescribed Zantac to prevent the spread. It was very effective but I had to take it once a day for 10 days along with another medication. By the eighth day, my hives were completely gone.
