I have been using Depo-Provera for about 5 years, and the experience for me has had pros and cons. While growing up I had very painful periods, and one year when I went in for an annual checkup the doctor had discovered a cyst on my ovary. I tore the ligaments in my ankle (very painful) and was prescribed Vicodin. I only take one pill and am fine with it. Lessens the pain with no noticeable side-effects while awake. I have noticed that if I take one right before bed, I will wake up with both my arms entirely numb, feeling like they are "asleep". So I just don't take it before bed any more.

I feel there is a constant battle going on between my head and my stomach. My head tells me I need more food. When I open the refrigerator or the cupboard my stomach screams out "I can't take any more please help me." When I had appendicitis, I was prescribed Extra strength tylenol for pain which gave me rapid pain relief which is what I really needed. However, it did make me very sleepy.
