I am 36 year old female and was diagnosed hyperthyroidism 10 months after having a baby. I was prescribed 30 mg carbimazole a day and after 3 weeks of taking it I came out in rash and hives all over my torso, neck, legs and it got even on my face. It's great for dealing with congestion/hay fever, but I stopped taking Drixoral after a short period of time because for me the dry mouth and thirst outweighed the benefits. I found myself drinking much more than usual because of my dry mouth, and consequently having to visit the bathroom much more frequently than usual. I have been pleased with the results - Dr. prescribed Valtrex to "shorten" any outbreaks, but so far, have not had any outbreaks. I had been taking 1 gm pill for about two months, then lessened the dosage to .5 gm.
