I was fine at 500 mg/day. When my doctor increased me to 1000 mg/day I developed severe abdominal pain and vomiting, requiring hospitalization, after 4 days of use.

Although it has some bad side effects, I feel more normal when I take it. I used to be a very outgoing motivated person when I was younger and over the years suffered from severe post traumatic stress and bipolar disorder. Adderall gives me my energy and confidence back. My doctor took me off Adderall about 2 months ago and I have been a wreck ever since.

I started out with 4 tabs a day but that was way too much. Doctor's PA told me to take 2 a day which was an improvement but side effects, although lessened, continued. I experienced restlessness, tongue sucking, mouth pursing, jaw clenching, rash on face, throat tightness with muscle spasm. I learned that these side effects over time can be life long. It took some time to adjust the medication. The initial dose was too high for me. I was crying, upset and had not motivation to be active. After the dose was lowered, my happiness returned but some of the pain as returned too.
