Severe hypertension from childhood. Medicated since 1963. Anaphalactic shock due to medication in 1996 resulted in medication change to Micardis HCT. Five years ago, dosage reduced by half due to excellent control. Now 77 years old, very healthy, active, walk 4 miles per day in 70 minutes. Least amount of side effects of any medication I have taken in 47 years.

I am in my final week of the 3 month treatment. I've decided to stretch the final week into 2 weeks - taking one dose a day, instead of two. I believe the withdrawl will be a little easier (hopefully). Chantix certainly did take away the urge to smoke, I haven't had a cigarette since October 24th. (I actually stopped the first week). I had tried everything to quit smoking and this was the only thing that worked! I guarantee that if you give Chantix a shot you will be a non-smoker! I was a 1 1/2 pack a day smoker and I had absolutely no desire to smoke by the end of the week without ANY withdrawal symptoms. You will feel sick and dizzy if you don't eat 30 minutes before taking it but you will no side effects other than vivid dreams if you just follow this step.
