I started Junel on the advice of my physician to regulate hormone levels. It was to be a trial of 3 months. One day after taking the last pill in my very first pack I noticed I was short of breath doing some minor exercises that I normally do just fine. the next day I could barely get up the stairs and was gasping for breath. i am a healthy active 50 year old woman who exercises daily. When I went to the doctor, I suspected maybe Pneumonia, but they wouldn't allow me to drive and sent me direc... View full comment

My head was completely bent back, my eyes were rolling in the back of my head and I was grinding my teeth. The convulsions lasted for hours on the day of the eye exam and returned sporadically the next day. I took benydryl for the allergic reaction because a friend's mother suggested it and it did help but my symptoms weren't at their worst when I took it because i... View full comment

I often have to switch my birth control because it doesn't always relieve my pain. Microgestin has been effective until recently. Just last month was a very heavy and painful period. I also had irregular bleeding 2 weeks before my usual period. I'm unsure if this is normal or a problem with Microgestin, but it will be discussed with my doctor. Either way, it was an uncomfortable month and quite inconvenient.

The first three months were hellish. i constantly needed to throw up. my head hurt. i was exhausted. after that everything calmed down. i still feel nauseous in the mornings but it's bearable. i'm much calmer. my enthusiasm for certain things has dulled and i'm pretty sure my sex drive has decreased. but it was pretty darn high to start off with so situation still isn't critical :-) my sensitivity (physical) has decreased though which is a down side. my sense of urgency has gone which is good...
