My doctor recommended Lantus. It is more expensive and less effective than the NPH I was taking. I was on 2 injections per day before Lanus. Now I have to take short acting insulin before each mean and Lantus before bed. I feel like a pin cushion and my blood sugars are no better. Taking the extra insulin has caused weight gain. Worked well for me. It really does take my allergies away very fast. Even though it makes me sleepy, it helpes me feel much better. Only problem I've ever had is that it makes me sleepy and I have weird dreams that feel very real.
