Mainly used to treat virus infections of the eye.

This medication is used to treat virus infections of the eye.
Off Label Uses:

Side Effects:
Increased sensitivity to light
Itching
Redness
Swelling, pain or other signs of irritation not present prior to using medication
Blurring, dimming, or haziness of vision
Cautions / Warnings:
Not advisable in patients with allergic reaction to this medicine.
Should not be used at or around mealtime or prior to eating certain types of food since interactions may occur.

About Idoxuridine
Idoxuridine is an anti-herpesvirus antiviral drug. It is a nucleoside analogue, a modified form of deoxyuridine, similar enough to be incorporated into viral DNA replication, but the iodine atom added to the uracil component blocks base pairing.
