I was prescribed dexamethasone for severe inflammation in my tonsils when I had mononucleosis. I was unable to swallow and had difficulty breathing due to my enlarged tonsils, but the dexamethosone improved the swelling significantly very quickly. It made me very hungry, but I had also lost a lot of weight from my illness, so this side effect was not bad for me. Terrible! Try getting off this medication! It messes up your brain chemistry. I ended up in the psych ward after the terrible anxiety after trying to taper off. I did not alleviate any nerve pain that I had or still have. It's cousin Lyrica is just as dangerous! I would not suggest either of these meds. Antisiezure meds should be used for that purpose only.
