Today my doctor told me to stop the Lipitor because my liver is "not happy". Since being on the drug, I have experienced lower cholesterol. BUT I have also had irregular heartbeat, weight gain especially abdominal, blood in my urine that the urologist can find no reason for, swollen hands and fingers, feet feel sore and hot but look normal, rashes on my arms, weakness in knees, and pain in my right side. My doctor recommended Lantus. It is more expensive and less effective than the NPH I was taking. I was on 2 injections per day before Lanus. Now I have to take short acting insulin before each mean and Lantus before bed. I feel like a pin cushion and my blood sugars are no better. Taking the extra insulin has caused weight gain. Follow up to my original post: After the sixth week of taking the Zyflamend, and no return of the rosacea, I called my doctor, and the upshot is that he didn't think that it's being a COX2 inhibitor was a problem in and of itself (Vioxx was a unique problem), and said that he couldn't find Z., on the FDA's watch list, so I should feel free to experiment with no worries that he could predict. Changing to this synthetic analogue, described to me as "the greatest thing for Type 1 diabetics" by my diabetic team was a decision I now deeply regret. The side effects were extremely debilitating - extreme fatigue, memory loss, joint & muscle pain, feeling as if I was in a foggy toxic state all the time despite good HBA1c results. I had bad pain in my ankle and took the lortab while I was at work. It made me very tired and I didnt coordinate very well. It didnt work to take the pain away and I think that is what made my patience worse
