When first diagnosed with hyperthyroidism, the extreme tiredness meant more hours spent in bed than out. tasks were set on a daily basis in order to get general household chore complete, washing dishes ect. On waking I could be awake for around 3 hours, then will need to go back to bed. With using carbimazole, I am able to stay awake for the whole day and complete multiple general house hold chores.

This was a very, very bad experience. I was completely unable to sleep longer than 1 hour at a time. Over the 5 months I was taking this, that sleep loss added up. I was tired all the time, could not eat due to severe nausea, and saw things that were not there (this was confirmed by my husband). The disk is very convient and portable which is a plus but the after taste is pretty bad. I sometimes have a cup of water a little afterwards to wash away the taste. I also experience some stomach cramps and dizziness at times, which may be due to the medicine.

This medication also helps me breathe when I get an asthma attack but it takes a little bit longer than the albuterol and I do not get any side effects with xopenex like the fast heartbeat and tremors, so regarding side effects its better but it takes longer than the other medication.

I have had Graves disease for twomyears now. The first approach was a gradully reducing dose of carbimazole, from 40mg down to 5mg. This took approximately a year.
