After being made hypothyroid due to RAI treatment, I still feel that levothyroxine can do a better job of affecting the emotional and psychological side of treatment, too. At this time I feel that it doesn't work well with all areas of hypothyroidism's effects.

So far, I am extremely satisfied with my experience using Ortho Tri-Cyclen. The pills are small and discreet, so I can take them without my religious grandparents even knowing that I am. I have not had breakthrough bleeding and I started them (against my physician's advice) the day after I was prescribed, or mid-way through my former menstrual cycle. Started taking the medicine for malaria for a deployment to Afghanistan. About three weeks into the regiment, started to have vivid and unique dreams that were often violent in nature. This was a side effect but did not bother me. In fact I enjoyed the dreams a lot. I continued to take mefloquine and eventually stopped after I was back in the states. I never got malaria but my buddy got it and he was taking the same amount I got.
