I had taken Marax in the mid 70s and as a 16 year old "in charge" of her medication, I probably took more than prescribed and suffered severe anxiety attacks. Sometimes so debilitating, I wanted to jump out of my skin. Then I would crash and thought I was going to die. I used Celexa for Anxiety. I think that it's use is indirectly used for anxiety and mostly directed to those with deep depression. I feel this is why i mainly felt tranquilized, tired nauseous, and my mind just felt cloudy. Used it for anxiety during school tests and it did not help, just lowered mental functionality and a felt very slow as to recall test material. I've been on Cryselle for four months...and it's horrible! I've had two uti's and think I have another now. I go to dr tomorrow to see. I've had vaginal itching, bloating, abdominal pain, acne, and headaches. I feel better on my period! As soon as I start a new pack, I immediately feel sick and usually develop a uti. By the time I start, I'm just getting over my antibiotic. The only contraceptive part of this med is it makes me so sick that I can't even imagine having sex!!

This drug was a last ditch effort for me. It was trying this or having ECT which I am strongly against. I am happy that pristiq has given me much needed relief not only from depression but from anxiety as well. The only really awful side effect I had at first was nausea. It was very strong for about 3 weeks and then faded as time has gone on. I would recommend anyone whose tried other medications that haven't worked well for them to try this one.
