The generic name of this medication is tretinoin and brand names are Altinac, Atralin, Avita, Renova, Retin A Micro Gel, Retin-A, Tretin-X.

The active ingredient of this medication is tretinoin and inactive ingredients are benzyl alcohol, butyl paraben, butylated hydroxytoluene.

This medication is used as topical treatment for acne vulgaris.

The Renova brand of tretinoin is used to reduce the appearance of fine wrinkles and mottled skin discoloration, and to make rough facial skin feel smoother.

Common Uses:

This medication is used for the topical treatment of acne vulgaris.
The Renova brand of tretinoin is used to reduce the appearance of fine wrinkles and mottled skin discoloration, and to make rough facial skin feel smoother.

Off Label Uses:

None noted thus far.

Side Effects:
Hives;
Difficulty breathing;
Swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat;
swelling;
Dryness;
Peeling;
Irritation, or discolored skin.

Cautions / Warnings:

Not recommended for following conditions:
Who are allergic to it;
Who have eczema;
This medication is not recommended for use during pregnancy.

Drug Interactions:
Diuretic or water pill;
Tetracycline (Sumycin, Panmycin, Robitet), minocycline (Minocin), doxycycline (Doryx, Vibramycin), demeclocycline (Declomycin), and others;
Antibiotics like ciprofloxacin (Cipro), ofloxacin (Floxin), and others;
Sulfa drugs like Bactrim, Septra, Cotrim, and others; or
Chlorpromazine (Thorazine), prochlorperazine (Compazine), fluphenazine (Permitil, Prolixin), promethazine (Phenergan, Promethegan), perphenazine (Trilafon), and others.

About Tretinoin

Tretinoin is the acid form of vitamin A and so also known as all-trans retinoic acid or ATRA. It is a drug commonly used to treat acne vulgaris and keratosis pilaris. It is available as a cream or gel (brand name Retin-A). It is also used to treat acute promyelocytic leukemia (APML).
